Live Poker Tournaments
Live poker tournaments are played all over the world in many countries. The players who make up these live tournaments also are from all over the world. Many of these tournaments are seen weekly on TV and the spy camera has made this fun to watch for the viewers. But that is just the top of the iceberg so to speak. Live tournaments are played weekly by friends who play once a week at each other’s home. Small local card rooms offer small entry tournaments for their patrons as an incentive for them to come and play. Larger and even palatial card rooms are found in larger cities where Holdem is legal to be played. These poker rooms offer large local tournaments as well as satellite games with a prize of entry into some of the biggest poker tournaments held every year. This accounts for the huge increase of player that enter the WSOP. The availability of satellites and the popularity of poker have increased awareness, bringing people to play from every part of the world. Live games are prone to glitches for players who have learned to play via the computer and online websites. They have to learn how to handle the chips and to not bet out of turn. These players have also had to accustom themselves to how to properly call or raise bets. They have had to learn about the distractions of live play. In an online game you can turn off a player’s chatter. There is no such control in a live game. Obnoxious players can be ignored online, but in live play it is difficult to do for an online trained player. The rigor of a live tournament with many players takes stamina and the ability to keep your focus. It is so easy to lose your concentration and make a mistake that puts you out of the tournament. Tournaments are won by accumulating chips. This is a rule that all good players know. Those with the large chip stacks can control a table by using their chips to bludgeon their opponents by making huge raises the other player can only call if they have the nuts. One mistake can take away this hard earned advantage. Online play can give a player the experience needed to play in a live game. They will learn that good patient play is rewarded by placing higher in the standings at the end of a tournament.
